Oregon runs two calendars. From Labor Day to Memorial Day, daylight movement runs seven days a week. From Memorial Day to Labor Day it contracts sharply: Saturday until noon, and no Sunday travel at all. The exception is worth knowing because it saves the summer for a lot of freight — a load within fourteen feet of width may still travel weekend daytime on the Interstates west of the Cascade summit.
The state also classifies its two-lane roads as green routes or not, and the escort thresholds differ substantially between them. On a green route an escort starts at twelve feet of width; on other two-lane roads it starts at nine.
