Questions carriers ask before the first filing
How much does an oversize or overweight permit cost?
Our filing fee follows the load rather than a flat rate: $15 per permit for a Small Load, $25 for a Big Load, and $30 for a Pro Load running up to 14 ft wide and 140,000 lbs on 8 axles. Superload packages start at $30. Each state's own permit fee is separate and is added per state, which is what the Permit Estimator works out for you before you commit to anything.
Which states do you file in?
All 48 continental states. Each one sets its own provisions, and we handle them state by state rather than applying one national rule to a trip that crosses several.
What counts as an oversize or overweight load?
Every state draws the line in its own place. As a rule of thumb, anything over 8 ft 6 in wide, over 13 ft 6 in high — 14 ft across much of the West — longer than 80 ft, or heavier than 80,000 lbs needs a permit. The Estimator checks your dimensions against the limits of each state on the route instead of guessing.
What do you need from me to file?
Dimensions, weight, axle count, and where the trip starts and ends. That is enough to price the trip and begin the applications.
Do I need an account before I can get a price?
No. Opening an account is free and takes nothing off the table, but the Permit Estimator prices a trip without one.
