Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Cran Permits website and platform. Please read them: they set out what we do for you, what we need from you, and who carries which risk when a load moves.
1. Who we are
Cran Permits is a service of CRAN LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Cran Permits", "we", "us"). Our mailing address is 254 Chapman Rd, STE 208, Newark, DE 19702. You can reach us at support@cranpermits.com or +1 224-342-5488.
We are a permit service company. We are not a government agency, and we are not affiliated with any state department of transportation. We prepare and submit permit applications to the issuing agencies on your behalf as your agent.
2. Acceptance of these terms
By using this website, placing an order, or accessing the client portal, you agree to these terms. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that company, and "you" means that company.
If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the platform.
3. Accounts
Accounts are provisioned by us — there is no public sign-up. When we create an account for your company, the named owner may create additional users for their own staff. You are responsible for:
- keeping login credentials confidential, and for everything done under your users' accounts;
- removing users who leave your company, and telling us promptly if you believe an account has been compromised;
- the accuracy of the company, fleet, and driver records you maintain in the portal.
We may suspend or close an account that is used to submit false information, that is used unlawfully, or that has an unpaid balance.
4. What we do
Depending on what you order, our services include:
- Permit application — preparing and filing oversize and overweight permit applications with the states you select, and delivering the issued permits to you;
- Route discovery and routing — identifying a route consistent with the permit conditions we obtain;
- Permit amendment — requesting changes to a permit already issued, subject to the issuing agency's rules.
Permits are issued by state agencies, not by us. We cannot guarantee that a permit will be issued, that it will be issued within a particular time, or that an agency will approve a specific route, date, or configuration. Agency portals go down, agencies close, and some states review applications manually.
5. Your responsibilities
Everything we file is built from the load information you give us. You are responsible for providing complete and accurate dimensions, weights, axle counts and spacings, fleet details, and driver details, and for updating them when they change.
A permit obtained from inaccurate information is invalid, and the fees paid for it are not recoverable. Fines, citations, escorts ordered at the roadside, detention, and re-permitting costs that follow from inaccurate information are yours.
You are also responsible, at all times, for:
- reading each permit and operating within every condition printed on it, including travel times, curfews, holiday restrictions, escort requirements, and route restrictions;
- arranging and paying for pilot cars, pole cars, police escorts, utility moves, and any bonding an agency requires;
- maintaining the operating authority, insurance, and registration your operation requires by law;
- the safe and lawful movement of the load — that is the carrier's duty and cannot be delegated to us.
6. Estimates are estimates
The estimator on this site and in the portal returns a non-binding estimate. It is generated from the information entered and from reference fee data that changes without notice, and it does not account for every surcharge, per-mile charge, escort requirement, superload review, or bridge analysis a state may apply to your specific load.
The amount you owe is the final total we confirm on the order after our permit desk reviews it. If the final total is materially higher than the estimate, you may cancel the order before we file, at no charge.
7. Fees and payment
Each order is made up of:
- State and agency fees, which we advance and pass through to you at cost; and
- our service fee, which is what you pay us for preparing, filing, and managing the permit.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number — only the brand and last four digits, so you can recognize the card on file. By paying, you authorize us to charge the card for the order shown, and you confirm that you are authorized to use it.
Orders are filed after payment unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Unpaid balances may be suspended, and we may decline to file further orders while a balance is outstanding. You are responsible for any taxes applicable to our services.
8. Cancellation and refunds
Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: cancel before we file and you are refunded in full; once a state has taken the filing, its fees are gone.
9. Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us first — we will fix a genuine error. Disputing a charge for work already performed and delivered does not remove your obligation to pay for it, and we may recover the disputed amount and any related fees.
10. No warranty
The platform and our services are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that reference data such as fee tables, dimension thresholds, or escort thresholds is complete or current.
Nothing on this site is legal advice or a substitute for reading the permit and the regulations that apply to your movement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, delay damages, detention, downtime, or fines and citations, even if we were advised such damages were possible.
Our total liability arising out of or relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid us for that order. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CRAN LLC, its members, officers, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, liability, fine, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your movement of a load, your breach of these terms, your violation of law or of a permit condition, or information you provided that was inaccurate or incomplete.
13. Intellectual property
The site, the platform, and their content, design, and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. You may use them only to obtain and manage permits for your own operation. You may not copy, scrape, resell, or reverse engineer any part of the platform.
The documents you upload remain yours. You grant us the license needed to store them and to submit them to permitting agencies and our service providers on your behalf.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the platform at any time and ask us to close your account. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if continuing would expose us to risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — payment, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — survive it.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in New Castle County, Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and both sides consent to that venue.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when we last did. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the updated terms; orders already placed are governed by the terms in effect when they were placed.
