The travel window is daylight, half an hour either side of sunrise and sunset, Monday to Saturday. Continuous travel is available within ten feet of width, fourteen feet six of height, a hundred and twenty feet of length and a hundred and forty thousand pounds — a generous envelope by regional standards, and one that covers a lot of ordinary heavy freight.
Santa Fe is the fussiest city on the route and has an extra rule the others do not: alongside the usual morning and evening peaks it closes again over lunch, half past eleven to half past one, everywhere except SR599. I-25 through Santa Fe is exempt from the curfew altogether, which makes the bypass decision an easy one. Albuquerque and Espanola apply the standard peaks. Dozer blades over fourteen feet wide must come off unless removing them would push the load over a weight limit.
